Dear Brethren,
Greetings from the brethren in Thessalonica! We praise the Lord for His protection and provision as we serve Him here! It really is crazy to think it’s been 2 years since we arrived to the Thessaloniki airport with all our luggage. There were so many hurdles to get over in our first year, but the Lord has been there to help us through each step of the way! It’s just amazing to look back on where we were with the language, people, and just learning to navigate the city here! Although, we are still learning many new things each week, it’s not as overwhelming as it was at the beginning.
The Lord continues to give us many opportunities to witness to the lost on the streets each week as we pass out tracts and hold the banner. We recently had a long conversation with a couple young men that claimed to be atheists. They were skeptical about the Bible and said they put their trust in science, even though I pointed out to them that many scientif-ic facts are found in the Bible. Regardless, they listened and had many questions but couldn’t explain their authority or foundation they stood upon.
Recently, I was able to meet with Constantinos again at our house and discuss some issues he is facing. It was yet an-other opportunity for me to explain to him the only way he will ever find peace in this life! Please continue to pray for him and his wife to surrender their hearts to the Lord. We are in constant communication each week and our friendship continues to grow, but the Lord will have to do the work in his heart.
The church is doing really well, and it’s exciting to see some of the people get involved in reaching the lost! I’ve noticed a few people grabbing tracts after the service and looking for opportunities to witness to people on the street. Although it’s summer here and many Greeks head for their beach houses, we still have a good core of faithful people coming each Sunday and Wednesday! It never ceases to amaze us to see all the traffic jam as people are heading out of Thessaloniki every Sunday for the beach. The drive to church is a lot quicker because we are part of the minority that are headed into the city!
There has been some opposition recently to the street ministry we do each week. The police informed us that we will need a license or permit to pass out tracts and hold the banner. We have applied for the permit or license they men-tioned, but I’m not sure it’s going to be approved because it’s only issued to businesses. However, our lawyer has advised us that we still have the right to pass out tracts and spread the gospel here without a permit or license because of the religious freedom. Please pray for this situation and that we can get clarity on what exactly is required by law.
